THE REMINDERS OF WHAT I USED TO BE

Nocturnal Soul

Notice of absence from Nocturnal Soul
Who shall notice the absence of a star when there are millions of them sparkling in the sky.

People Who Turn Their Passion,

Into Their Professions,

are the ones That are truly Lucky in life.

a risk that might turn your life into what it wants to be.

Unfortunately for me,

my passions have turned to the reminders of what I used to be.

A thought full of happy memories,

like the rosses with its pointy thorns.

The choice to take that that risk was taken from me,

And now my profession has turned into the hardships,

For raising bread for my family.

The moment I was writing this poem,

I got a firing from my manager, and I was thinking,

I would have broken his jaw if I was the man I used to be.

I made a sacrifice for the happiness of my loved ones,

But now I am thinking,

What did that cost me.

Fifty to sixty or even maybe seventy,

These are the numbers that seems to be my deadline,

Such a short time,

And still I buried what I used to be.

Sacrifice the price, suffering is the human burden says the Buda and relinquishing all desire is the cure. A poem of sacrifice and latter questioning as to whether it was correct. One can not go back only forward. Pursue what you love now. Good write

A heartfelt write of sacrifices made and questioning now if it was worth the sacrifice. Always follow where your heart leads you, enjoyed the read

I really liked your poem. Was thinking a lot of us make sacrifices. It’s the road to a good life usually.

"I would have broken his jaw...." Brother, a kind word of wisdom : Anger will destroy you. Remove it from your mind. Stay calm, look for other opportunities, jobs, etc. move on. You only live once. From an ancient Indian book (possibly Rig Veda) :
    "From anger comes delusion.
    From delusion loss of memory,
From loss of memory, the destruction of discrimination,
From the destruction of discrimination he perishes..."
(I am posting a poem and an analysis of it by Artificial Intelligence --- one writing per day on MPS. The poem is on the F-35 plane incident in Kerala. Today the poem; tomorrow the analysis). Soman Ragavan.

Thank you sir for your valuable words,
I believe its okay to have these emotions, after all we are human beings and we are built to live with it. but our emotions should not take control of our actions and we should be the one controlling our emotions and not the other way around. I remembered my coach's words when I read your comment.

"Fear and anger always clouds your mind, you will not be able to think straight when these two emotions are in control of you. Anger only gives you the impression that you are getting strong but the reality is you are losing energy and stamina faster than normal. A person who is not in control of his emotions is a weak man, My students are not weak I want them to be strong both physically and mentally"

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
