Can we

Maplespal

There is no more need for the old empire,
no more need for the warriors honored fire.
There are no points left to lie about,
no more orders to give quietly or to shout.

There is nothing left in the old empire to find,
the end is near to here in front not behind.
Leave your spears, arrows, swords at your feet,
today from a distance targeted by our own heat.

Useless tools of past sins of forgotten ones,
back and forth the power depending on who won.
Are we not tired yet of the same routine path,
the amount who died under the empire do some math.

Can we not move past the past and be a forgiver.
Can we not together carefully cross the river.
Can we stop the needless ways of the way we are.
Today peace sometimes just feels impossibly far.
