A Rainy Rain

Mercy Robert

I walked into the rain,
With my heart held high
Taking one step at a time,
Lost in thought over recent turns of events.

Step by step, I pressed on,
Drawn to the spot where I could be soaked to the skin.
As I reached the heart of the downpour,
I slowed my pace, came to a standstill,
And let each drop crown my scalp.

With every pitter-patter,
I caught the rhythm
A sound that spoke volumes,
Easing my troubled mind and quieting my soul.

I lifted my gaze and counted my blessings,
Thankful for such a downpour of peace.
I truly savored the rain
It took me down memory lane.
