Thank you
The Sun has returned
GAZA (HELP).
Every day I sit, listen, wonder at the old television screen.
I always feel that I cannot comprehend what I have just seen.
A total country being wiped out, bombed to the ground.
Horrific evil scenes of so-called humanity lying all around
It feels like I am watching live horror movies on the telly.
How we are constantly told this is revenge for all Israelis
People being herded up like diseased cattle to a safer place.
The real help they need, bombs stopping there's not a trace.
Once arriving at the designated location of so-called safety
They cannot get out because they have locked all the gates.
Waiting in their thousands to starve or be bombed to death.
Ceasefire is needed but Israel and Hamas deny all requests.
If anyone survives this will lead to an even more horrific war
They will breed have more hatred and anger than ever before.
But as the massacre happens before the world's half shut eyes
I don’t get why the free world stands resolutely by Israel side.
As usual we all hear politicians around the world talk the talk.
Somehow, we find no one is brave enough to walk the walk.
It’s a fact, no bad words can be said about the invading nation.
That would be anti-Semitic, then it’s you the headline making.
Every time I see Netanyahu ever increasing round smug face,
I find myself asking where the humanity is in the human race.
We are all raised and taught two wrongs don’t ever make a right
That according to God himself, no man should ever take a life.
Israel is one of the most religious countries in the modern world
They remain very happy watching the horrors continue to unfold
Revenge has been taken for the horrors they have already faced
The agenda has changed; you can see it in that round smug face.
Tens of thousands of innocent people murdered in their homes
Children dying daily in what was once the land they were born
What happened to the phrase, we should turn the other cheek
I must ask the question, how the hell can this end in peace.

- Comment from author about the poem: Lets be perfectly clear i do not support or condone Hamas or am i anti-semetic, i hate to see the murdering of any people. I just feel this is no longer about revenge, there is a darker agenda, if the all the hostages were released today another excuse would be found and used to carry out his agenda, to destroy Gaza and let the settlers claim the land.

Politics, greed, history, religion are a deadly mix. The Torah does not include the New Testament there is no turn the other cheek it remains an eye for an eye. In such situations it always the innocent that suffer on both sides. The guilty protect themselves. A sad situation for all.
Thank you, enjoy the rest of your weekend
I agree with the terrible things that are happening in gaza. You are right to highlight what is going on.This poem is extraordinary and important poem. Peace seems a long way away.
Thank you, enjoy the rest of your weekend
It appears the newscasters are on your side, or what? There are at least a couple angles on this for me, my late mother noting too many years ago by now that this modern age has a rather odd seeming sanctity for life when you begin to compare the numbers with that of ancient times; on that same angle, more or less, atrocities and virtual massacres were apparently commonplace in ancient times, when I examine the record casually. Thirdly, there is no "news"-- all is simply propaganda (one of my brothers showed me that years ago.) Fourthly, if you read James Thurber, you'll learn (as I did several years ago) this is no new phenomenon-- the aka "news" has been horribly negative forever...another reminder it's not news, but rather propaganda-- in that light, another of my brothers too many years ago wisely advocated we leave off this preoccupation with the "news" [propaganda] because it IS negative, and it doesn't help our daily perspective and approach to life, which I tried out and found quite useful. But I've talked too much. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a fitly haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
I respect your opinion but seeing clear pictures of children covered in blood with their dead family members lying on the ground is not propaganda, it is real, enjoy the rest of your weekend
Couldn’t agree more with most of your sentiments, Tobani. I have stated many times that innocent people die in war, and (despite a very vacuous ‘poet’ here attempting to pervert my intention) I maintain that I should utilize that in any antiwar rhetoric I may produce.
Nor can I better your statement: ‘I do not support or condone Hamas or am I anti-semitic, I hate to see the murdering of any people.’
However a number of elements:
The history (and it is always history) which goes well back before the Hamas attack on Israel has evolved into this current situation. Israel sees Hamas as a threat and why should it not? The logic is to eliminate Hamas, which I understand was voted for by the Palestinians and is imbedded deep in the population.
And please, leave the children out of it – they shouldn’t (how many times should I have to mention this?) have been pumped out in the first place.
Great write though.
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated
In rereading, I found i'd missed the one word 'more', now inserted. Meaning in first paragraph radically altered - sorry.
No worries
Each generation has its burden and its scars, for those that straddle the ages and centuries, they carry more. An apt sentiment in today's terrible hostilities.
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated
No...you are not antiSemitic. And in this scenario YOU CANNOT BE as both the Israelis and the Palestinians are Semites and therefore Semitic. There, that solves that faux issue! Six feet under. Laid to rest. 🤣 You are welcome, my friend!
Again, you are not antiSemitic, you are discerning. No one I know supports Hamas or what they stand for, but who are getting maimed and killed here? And how many? Your poem speaks to this and I, for one, applaud it no matter what anyone else might think. 🌹👏
We need more bold voices like yours to stand up for the truth and sanity. War produces death. Nothing more. And you know what? No victims have been brought back from this...only more victims made. Again, I applaud and, as you can see, am a bit passionate! LOL!
Thank you kindly for your words and support, very much appreciated. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, hope the pet has recovered from the noise
You are most welcome. She has indeed! Thank you so much, my friend! You too.
Some are going to be repaid for the horrors. It won't be in the misunderstood sense of 'suffer little children to come unto me'. In that case, it simply means 'allow little children.....' We can only hope some will suffer for it in judgement in the 'punishment' sense, not merely in the sense of 'use your own judgement' in making choices, etc.
Thank you for your feedback, enjoy the rest of your weekend
Great write
Thank you, much appreciated
You're welcome
Excellent text, Master. I completely agree with you impartially. War and its consequences hurt, but truthfully, what hurts me more is that the economic interests of the gun owner are indifferent or even excuse themselves, eternally lost in cynicism. It hurts to see my brothers fight. Thank you for sharing. Regards.
Thank you for your feedback, very much appreciated
Those who can do things to create peace do nothing as there is no power or money in peace.
Andy
all this and the world turns a blind eye
Exactly, thank you for your comment, have a wonderful week
you too
Thank you
Your use of rhythm propels a sense of urgency in your words . Excellent work on a most devastating situation. Necessary words of the time that we live in . Well done Sincerely Elizabeth
Thank you for your kind feedback, have a wonderful week
My pleasure and thankyou for the well wishes. This piece is a a timely observational piece ( I have written a piece last year about all of the current wars today without mentioning any one in particular and think you might find it perhaps interesting as it has similar sentiments to the powerful piece you created above. You should send it to protest Gaza movements and see if they will include it in their publications eg Free Palestine movement is a popular one. I believe protest poetry can be a powerful voice and catalyst for change. This poem deserves a wider audience. Sincerely , Elizabeth
That is very kind of you, but i only put my poetry on this site, not any where else. I am not a confident writer and i feel safe on here, have a great day
Oh I’m glad you shared that with me. Thankyou I will be sensitive about that in the future. For what it’s worth I love your work and I hope my encouragement gives you a boost of pride in your work. (I second guess my work all of the time and struggle with confidence too so thankyou for sharing that with me.) i am relatively new here and the community here is lovely and I can see why you feel safe here. Have a lovely day too!!! Sincerely, Elizabeth
