The line. Your limit. What you can take.
The respect you deserve, and how you don't deserve to break.
Men will make mistakes and you will hear the echo of 'he's had a rough day'.
Allow me to plead, don't accept that today.
Don't allow him to touch you wrong,
Don't allow him to raise his voice.
Don't allow him to bruise your body,
Don't allow him to speak more lies.
The man may be in pain, but love, it's not your fault,
You're not a punching bag,
To your wounds, he shouldn't be the salt.
Don't let him win today.
We all have pushed our lines away.
From what we wouldn't accept to 'it's okay'.
Please choose yourself, my brave girl,
Choose your inner child, not a monster.
Never make your voice passive,
Don't put your head down for him.
Don't let him be in control of you,
Never let you heart shatter.
Choose today, sweet sweet girl.
To say no to slammed doors.
To say no to loud voices and to say no to guilt tripping.
Say no to disrespect, that's what you owe yourself.
Walk away even if it hurts,
Because that's the better option.
Trust me, you don't want to grow old and wonder,
Is love a piece of fiction?

Advice in a poem to women, but could be men as well, to not take abuse in a relationship. The question does become where one draws the line is it at physical harm (deliberate, accidental), verbal abuse (ugly put downs, yelling at, and how loud), emotional abuse ( disrespect, ignoring) or just plain disagreement. To each their own. A very thought provoking poem even in its clarity. Loved it.
Well written write with important advice that to abuse anyone in any form in a relationship is wrong, nicely expressed
Excellent write
