Hyenas

Damaso

-You are life!
Pelé announced
standing swaying
and distilled breath
a cold night
in the circle of truths
sharp and jovial

The hyenas screech
the delayed echo doesn't reach
the depths of the abyss
in their shining red eyes
their meaning strikes
twice and heals

Don't you dare mock me
I always find myself
more pleasant
with the lost
they only speak in sacred language,
awake words

How far have I been free?
Are you going to die more than me?

The last line strikes brilliantly, Damaso; capping up the poem solidly🕊️🙏🏻

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and for taking the time to read. I'd like to take credit for this quote, but I was merely a good, attentive listener to the teachings of the wobbly master. Best regards.

This poem is exotic, hypnotic it calls out of a dreamland where through the mists noting is real yet seems so. Lovely and a fave

Thank you very much, as always, it's a pleasure to respond to words of encouragement. I'm so glad you found the text in this way and that it's enjoyable at the same time, since the essence that most closely matches my core is horrifying, but it can be viewed in a fascinating way. I celebrate that. Best regards.

Whenever there someone/something struggling in a dark place or dying there are always Hyena's waiting to pounce and gorge on the carcass, this write appears this time they didn't get what they came for, enjoyed the read

That's right, sir. This time they found an old witch doctor who showed them an inscribed mirror and taught them that equality knows no bounds. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your words of encouragement. Best regards.

What I get from this, is "Life," death and judgement. Your closing line says a lot as to meaning. We are all equal, or we try to be, but mostly we fail at this. No one "dies" more than another. In this, we are equal. Mainly, we are all "lost." There-in is the poet's ease. "You, (we are all) are life! Should be shouted on high, for all to hear. Loved this. - Phil A.

Well, I'm so glad you found it that way. That's why I tried to rescue this valuable message from the mumbled words. Thank you so much for taking the time to read so carefully and leaving such encouraging words. Best regards.

Wow, my friend—there is something sharply raw yet oddly comforting here. I love how you move from Pelé’s declaration into that eerie, striking imagery of hyenas and echoes. Those last two lines really hit deep. A haunting, beautiful piece as always. Thank you for this! 🌹👏

I am very happy that I liked it. Whenever I cross with the hyenas I remember the lessons of Master Pelé. Thank you very much for reading and leaving your words of breath. Greetings
