I need an angel,
But heaven is too far away.
There is no rising from my falling,
Because you cannot see the angel in you.
Why wait for an angel
To come and raise me up?
When you can extend a helping hand
And become my angel in a human form.
I am hungry and thirsty,
But I cannot wait for bread to fall from heaven.
I cannot wait for rain to fill my cup
When a kitchen and a well are yours.
I need an angel,
Whose wings are charity and love;
For such a one will fly to heaven
And be counted with angels and not with men.

- Comment from author about the poem: According to the poet Isaiah Ogedegbe, "Humanity is the instrumentality of divinity". In other words, God cannot come down from heaven to help men; He uses men on earth to help their fellow men. Therefore, you should allow God to use you to make someone's life better today.
