The human sanatorium

Vasile Serban

I’m caught between lights and shadows
By a demon that has settled in my mind
And locked me in a somber prison
While my heart and body were entwined.

In the sad and gray sanatorium of my life,
I am your patient and you my loving doctor,
With whom I share my dreams of heaven,
And tales that nobody else will ever know.

My love, may your eyes no longer weep
When evening falls and you drift to sleep.
From this day forth, I’ve shed all my fears,
As I return to you from my heavy dreams.

I would like you to take me in your arms
As you haven't done in a long time.
This might set you free from sadness,
For from now I am totally healed.

I ask for your forgiveness, my love,
For the nights when I left you in tears,
It was just a fleeting moment in my life
When I lost the way to your heart.
