I never say what I mean
I’m a big drama queen
I’ll double text you (for sure),
But then just leave you on seen.
Keep me waiting too long,
I’ll be sure to make a scene.
I’ll say that I’m selfish,
Before you even think it.
The fort ‘round my heart,
Took me years to build it.
Got that fake confidence,
When I’m shaking inside,
Chin held up high in defiance,
All my fears they hide.
And when those tears come,
I just bottle them up,
Put on a smile, remove the glum,
Add on a little make-up.
I’ll fake it till I make it
Or till I burn out,
And throw a crazy fit,
Where I scream and I shout.
About how life’s so unfair,
Cause I ain’t rich or pretty,
But I use my words like knives,
To be oh so petty.
And most times that’s enough,
But I’m tired of performing,
Pretending to be tough,
God, that’s exhausting.

The masks we wear and how often we have to change them. It is tiering. A good read that is so identifiable. Nicely done
Thank you! Sometimes we use masks so much that we feel naked without them.
True indeed. You are most welcome
Well written,
