Parasite

mya

this parasite that feasts upon me—
has always been, never ceased to be.
it inhabits and torments my mind,
ruptures many veins at a time.

I feel the heat in every part—
starting from within my heart.
I am oblivious to the events;
nothing I could do will prevent.

and when I least anticipate
its arrival, I don’t contemplate.
it suddenly catches me off guard—
the cold reality cascading hard.

I need not protection from myself,
but instead from the disease itself.
as incurable as it is, I will not
be able to make the most of all I’ve got.

Time goes by—it does not wait.
In a blink of an eye, unfalls my fate.
Time speeds by in a rush, an urgency—
it does not slow down in emergency.

I would like to pause the days,
to continue at my own pace,
to lie on my back and rest—
rises and falls, my aching chest.

This sounds like difficult times indeed. A poem that may be metaphorical as well there are many parasitic individuals that seem to have the same effect. Well written
