I hear a cry,
A cry in the street corner;
A voice in anguish and agony
Wails and weeps:
Fire! Fire! Fire!
Someone please call the firefighter.
Fire! Fire! Fire!
My heart is on fire.
I am your firefighter.
I have come
Not with water but with love
To quench these flames in your heart.
I have come
To put a smile on your pale face
And to meet your needs:
Good food, clothing and shelter I freely give.
Fire! Fire! Fire!
The whole world is on fire.
You need someone to help you
And someone needs you too.
Thank you, my firefighter,
For offering help when I needed it the most.
Fire! Fire! Fire!
It is now out of my heart.

- Comment from author about the poem: If you are yet to understand what "Fire in the Heart" means, it is used to explain human suffering. Since there is no monopoly on human suffering, we can only put out the fire of suffering by being of help to one another in our own little way.
