Not Yet

Vanna

Not Yet

I dreamed of trusting again— like a hopeless romantic waiting for her knight in shining armor.

But the dream still rides just out of reach.

I feel it. But I’m not ready.

Not while my heart is still dripping with yesterday’s ache. Not while the silence still echoes louder than any promise could.

I haven’t soaked in the sadness enough to rinse it clean. I haven’t finished mourning the version of me who once believed love meant safety.

So no— not yet.

Let the dream stay just a little farther away. I'll meet it when I'm whole enough not to mistake shining armor for light.

Metaphor encompases this poem and it speaks to seeing and distinguishing the truth from fantasy's illusions. Nicely done
