Baby Bird

Shahla Latifi

The pain and agony within Baby Bird's heart dwell with hopes beneath her dead mother's wing.
I wonder if she can feel as we do—loss, sadness—a way of breathing with nothing but air, emptiness surrounding her?!
I wonder if she can see things as we do—clarity, sadness, harshness, unfairness in the world.
Yet, the stem of a caring heart sometimes blooms around the dried, desolate ground filled with agony.

Sadness and loss in this reflective poem. I sometimes wonder if we can feel what animals can feel and see. We tend to think we are superior but I feel not just different and feelings are feelings across species similar but never the same. A most mind provoking thought and well written
