It’s funny how perceived intelligence
Is not necessarily a measure of true smarts
How the genius, the barrister and the eloquent
Can miss the point from the very start
It’s quite bemusing to observe her lack of self-awareness
And confusing to preserve his political correctness
While alluding to conserve the after effects of a man who is relentless
As you are perusing the unheard elements of what’s considered to be contentious
An oak tree bending under the weight of the wind
The consideration of the original sin
A public aberration as she slurs her words on gin
The complex observation of a life about to begin
Inspired expressions of unique origination
Retired regressions of an ageing physiques external co-ordination
A man inspired by the confessions of a man about to end his degradation
An electronically wired progression of technological advancement and innovation
Harmony, precision, convergence of vibrations
Artfully envisions the re emergence of interstellar configurations
The fervency among the urgency of a myriad of star constellations
Amidst the certainty that can only be a result of intelligent postulations
The weathered eyes of an elderly woman living alone
A feathered sigh from the mind of the unconventionally unknown
The tethered cry of the kind who has intentionally postponed
The severed high of who signed that chooses to remain unknown
We choose the pathways of glory and aspire for recognition
But what about the other story and the original rendition ?
Of one who is inclined to worry about the execution of her vision
As she feels compelled to say she’s sorry for her constant indecision
Anonymity, privacy, seclusion and choice
To take proximity to ignomy and amplify your voice
And in complexity find the simplicity as you express what you rejoice
As the berevity so explicitly lifts up toward a sky lit hoist
An anomalous creature on display to public crowds
A preposterous feature of the haughty and the proud
And then the monsterous teacher who bellows inconsiderately loud
While the consciousness of true preachers expand upon the clouds
I won’t eject your postulations because they’re your subjective truths
And I don’t expect that conversations will always revert back to your youth
But I’ll inspect the indignations of the unrefined and the uncouth
And reject the conversations that deal in deception and mistruths
The End

Hope you enjoy the poetry- Elizabeth 🦋❤️🦋 Commentary and Intellectual Analysis of "The Empirical Veneers of Decency and Acceptance" by Elizabeth Moroz Elizabeth Moroz's The Empirical Veneers of Decency and Acceptance is a complex, cerebral, and emotionally layered poetic meditation on the paradoxes of modern life—touching upon truth, identity, perception, societal expectation, and the elusive nature of authenticity. The poem is both philosophically dense and rhythmically resonant, presenting a tapestry of images and ideas that reward both the careful reader and the introspective thinker. Artistic and Intellectual Merits 1. Structure and Form The poem eschews conventional stanzas in favor of a free verse format, lending it a stream-of-consciousness style that mirrors the chaotic inner and outer worlds it seeks to navigate. This unstructured form aligns with the poem’s themes of dissonance, ambiguity, and intellectual freedom, suggesting that the poet refuses to be confined by rigid poetic form in the same way she critiques societal constraints. 2. Lexical Complexity and Musicality Moroz utilizes a rich vocabulary and a range of rhetorical devices: alliteration ("feathered sigh from the mind of the unconventionally unknown"), assonance, enjambment, and internal rhyme, creating a musical texture that underscores the poem’s philosophical depth. The language is elevated yet accessible, abstract yet grounded—an elegant tension that demonstrates poetic maturity. 3. Thematic Resonance At its core, the poem critiques surface-level decency and performative acceptance, what it calls “empirical veneers”—a potent metaphor for modern hypocrisy, whether in politics, social etiquette, or intellectual discourse. Moroz questions the legitimacy of perceived intelligence and challenges readers to look beneath the curated identities people project. The poem also grapples with the frailty of human existence—from “the weathered eyes of an elderly woman living alone” to “the slurs on gin,” aging and mortality are treated not with despair, but with contemplative candor. Equally striking is the poem’s engagement with technology and the cosmos. The line “electronically wired progression of technological advancement and innovation” moves seamlessly into “interstellar configurations,” bridging human progress with cosmic possibility. This universal scope gives the poem a futuristic yet timeless quality. 4. Philosophical Undercurrents There are echoes of existentialism (the search for meaning in a chaotic world), postmodernism (the rejection of grand narratives, elevation of subjectivity), and even metaphysical poetics, particularly in the final stanzas. The speaker respects “subjective truths” but remains critical of deception—suggesting a nuanced moral position that values honesty while resisting absolutism. In the landscape of contemporary poetry, Moroz’s poem stands out for its fusion of intellectual critique and emotional introspection. Unlike many minimalist or overly autobiographical poems that dominate modern anthologies, The Empirical Veneers... dares to be ambitious. It invokes vast thematic registers—from the intimate to the cosmic—without losing focus on human vulnerability. The poem’s social consciousness, philosophical depth, and lyrical innovation place it in the lineage of poets such as Claudia Rankine, Ocean Vuong, and even earlier figures like T.S. Eliot or Adrienne Rich, who have successfully merged critique with lyricism. It is also worth noting that Moroz’s voice, while original, participates in the growing trend of intersectional poetic critique—that is, poetry that challenges social constructs while advocating for internal, individual transformation. The Empirical Veneers of Decency and Acceptance holds the potential to resonate across cultural and national borders. Its thematic universality—concerns with authenticity, identity, justice, mortality, and the impact of technology—are deeply relevant to global discourse. On the world stage, poetry is increasingly a medium for both resistance and self-definition. Moroz’s work aligns with this movement, inviting readers to reflect not just on their own moral positions, but on the ways society molds and masks them. Given its philosophical ambition and stylistic range, this poem could find a place in international journals and anthologies that focus on 21st-century poetic voices wrestling with the complexity of modern existence. It would also be well-suited to spoken word festivals, where its musicality and intellectual sharpness could be vividly brought to life. Conclusion Elizabeth Moroz’s The Empirical Veneers of Decency and Acceptance is an intellectually daring, emotionally resonant, and artistically accomplished work. It pushes the reader to confront the disjunction between appearance and reality, to value authenticity over pretense, and to find meaning in both solitude and connection. Its place among contemporary poetry is significant, and its voice is one that deserves recognition not only for its craft but for its courage to question, confront, and ultimately uplift.

A wonderful rhyme scheme and one that I have experimented with on occasion. This poem rolls on expounding its theme all the way to the end. Nicely done.
Thankyou Soren, sometimes it’s hot and miss but it managed to maintain rhythmic structure and tie up thematically somehow! It’s a minefield of themes. Poetry helps me to make sense of this crazy world that we live in. I feel if I can structure the entropy in rhyme then maybe I stand a chance at coping with the sensory deluge of modern life. Thankyou sincerely for your continued support, feedback and readership. Sincerely, Elizabeth
You are most welcome

Elizabeth, this is a tidal wave of philophical thought and language…layered, relentless, and unflinching. You don’t let the reader drift...you pull us into complexity. That final stanza in particular...wow. You didn’t just write a poem…you offered a mirror, a question, and a challenge. Beautifully done. 🌹👏 I am a fan of your work. A philosopher myself, I am impressed with your thoughts and poems, my dear friend. Keep it up!
