Outgrowing What Was

Leny

Some lives are like old shirts

you wear them for a while,

until they feel too tight

around the shoulders.

At first, you don’t notice.

You try to make it work,

because it’s what you’ve always worn,

and people expect to see you in it.

But one day, you exhale

and realize you’ve outgrown it.

And it’s not your fault

you just grew.

It’s okay to fold it away.

It’s okay to want comfort,

to want space to move freely.

You are not made to stay small

for the sake of what used to fit.

You are allowed to grow

into something that feels more like you.

A great analogy and well used. We all grow and change and whether cloths or personalities we need to make adjustments as do those around us. Nicely said.
