When death comes
unexpectedly knocking at the door,
and brings all the memories lived—
tears burst,
and silence flees the room.
When death comes,
a mischievous intruder,
stirring an avalanche of feeling—
I don’t want to let you go,
to step through the door
alone, lonely.
When death comes,
I want to be with you,
reaching the other side…
together.
For where, O death, is your sting?
Where, O grave, your victory?
You could not extinguish
the love that binds us.
A crossing not into emptiness,
but into His presence...

- Comment from author about the poem: This poem is a reflection on the moment when death arrives—not as an end, but as a deeply emotional crossing filled with love, memory, and faith. It expresses the yearning not to be separated from a beloved one, and the hope that even in death, love endures and leads us into the presence of God. "When Death Comes" is both a lament and a declaration of trust—a reminder that the sting of death is overcome by eternal love. The end of the poem alludes to 1 Corinthians 15:55.

Death but a parting, a brief separation in the vast sea of time. For love is a force that no space separates another dimension that knows neither and obeys not temporal corruption. A lovely write.
