REFLECTION

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Strangely aloof
The day time aligns
Itself with
The twilight
Readied for
Nightime.

The dog
In the distance
Barks ferocious
In rhyme
The sea in defiance
Crashing waves rise.

The streets
And the houses
Lights flickering on
The waving goodbye
Disappearing
The sun.

My mind recalls
Thoughts distant
Now gone
How pretty
Your face was
Eyes which shone.

This poem casts a spell. It is haunting and its metaphor lingers like the sun setting on the horizon. Very nicely done it settles in the soul like oncoming sleep. Dogs barking in rhyme (genius) I'll bet the wave crash in good meter. A fave

I have gone to sleep listening to crashing waves. It’s a pleasant thing.
