The bubble has burst
And so has the dam
The promises are sham
The leader is a ham
Millions in him had placed their faith
Now deported, and miserable at airport gates
He had promised change
All thought it was for better
Because they all knew
He was a go-getter
But the tables have turned
The taxes are high
So are prices
And people groan and sigh
The promised benefits have yet to arrive
The hopes have now taken a big nose-dive
He was welcomed with hope
By many in the land
But now his supporters are a very small band
People now are sorry they had placed their faith in him
Their cup of sorrow is overflowing as full to the brim
Misguided, misled and now really sad
As they all realize how they have been had.

The realization they made a mistake, the hen has come home to roost, as they say , enjoyed the read
absolutely - those who voted for him are also now against him - so yes, the hen [or is it rooster] has come home...
have a great weekend
You too
In this poem you have expressed the sentiments of many. Does one have to amputate the leg to save the life or will the person die of shock and hemorrhage? Time will tell but for present there is certainly much pain and a lot of morphine may be needed.
at the moment, it seems things will get worse before one can hope for them to stop or get better.. lots of pain all around, and no medication at all provided - just a big kick by the boot
anyways - you enjoy your weekend...take care
Wishing you the best
thanks - may you have the best always too..take care
The rhymes are so delightful. What an enjoyable read. ποΈππ»
thanks but this is such a serious subject, and contemplation does not help - and neither can we act positively - the future is bleak there..
hope you have a wonderful weekend though - take care
Thank you for putting into words the great deception that has been perpetrated on so many, who knew so little. Buyers remorse is a terrible thing. How we will recover is anybody's guess. Thank you for speaking out!
yes - but the deception has been recent - the false promises of a utopia in the great land has been there since long.. recovery is a distant dream at present, but let's hope - and vent our despair
have a beautiful weekend - take care
What a sobering and sharply delivered poem. The rhythm fits the disillusionment well, and that final line really drove it home for me. Truly, an excellent job, my dear friend. A fave. π€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
absolute and total disillusionment for many.. somehow from the very beginning I could never understand people's fascination for this land - for me the other nations of the world offer much more without false promises - you work, and you get your reward..
our hearts cry out for those who went with so much hope, who have been truly disillusioned..
thanks a ton for the fave - God bless - take care..
Amen to everything you said. Amen you are most welcome my friend. God bless you and take care as well.
wish you the same too - have a beautiful week ahead
Hello Safina,
How the great orators and the weight of advertising can fool the masses to elect and then regret succumbing to the big lie and the litany of broken promises. An exposition of heartless leaders and their effects on the common folk in a down to earth narrative makes this poem compulsory reading for those of us seeking change and a better way of life. Excellent, my friend.
Do take care now,
Tony.
thank you - you have put in words what i feel too..
let us hope that change comes - it will not be too soon for so many of the misguided...
take care - and thanks for understanding the message.
This happens so often .. Oh' how the mighty fall .. It's just a shame its not that Orange one .. Neville
Agree with you wholeheartedly πitβs a shame he has such sweeping powers π€
