Stay with me

Maplespal

I want to die by your side when the time comes,
if I am to be around anyone when my death arrives.
I want you holding my hand when the reaper comes,
because I want a memory of my end to survive.

The things I understand about my endings view,
needing, wanting my life to end next to you.
This thing I have a need to force pain upon your heart,
and keep you close to me when we're ripped apart.

I know the damage that could come internally to be,
to someone so important to my hearts beating.
I fear the emptiness that I could gravely come to be,
an image of my death continuously repeating.

Hand hold me,
that goodbye.
Stay with me,
when I die.

A plea for continued closeness in a most difficult hour. Separation is feared by most and so it is stated in this poem. Nicely done
