Pay attention

Jeremy Leach

Attention flows like money through a hose

That’s always pumping out until we sleep

You turn and direct where the money goes

And choose to whom it’s paid and is in receipt

Pay handsomely to a lover in romance

Or lose interest and starve and neglect

Attention rewards from the circumstance

Being brutal, based on credit or debt

For if you pay enough to that being taught

Then knowledge will trickle slowly to your well

But pay less to those close than you ought

And one day there’ll be no one to sell

Most cleverly worded this poem in good rhyme tells of attention being bought and sold as a commodity. Very nicely done and a fave
