AS DAYLIGHT FADES

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Before the daylight fades
Lights to shine upon
The winding path
Where all began
The vibrant voice
Of youths endless day
Stretched out Summers
So far away.

Again to plead
Before night arrives
Dry your tears
But stay by my side
The music of my favourite song
Seems to fade as night begins
My mind drifting
To my sins.

There are tears now
In these old eyes
As you hold my hand
This last time
The room is resting
I dream in waves
Weary now
To forsake.

The tin angel sighs
Impatient to wait
Illuminates itself
At the gates
These words please tether
Wrapped in your heart
As daylight fades
Lights to shine upon
The winding path
Where all began.
