First Rays of Dawn

Parsa

Beneath the weeping of the midnight cloud,
The flight of ravens fills my soul with fears,
Crimson cheeks, once a fiery hope did shroud,
Now washed and pale by my despairing tears.

The raging storm tears harvest from its root,
While anxious thoughts erode my land in flood;
My sorrowful heart is left destitute,
And ceaseless pain circulates through my blood.

No fire of joy can make my feelings bright,
No drug can clear this long and sleepless night.

But I will wait for the first rays of dawn,
When shadows flee and all my pain is gone.

With heart and mind at last in healing ease,
I would embrace my new love's gentle peace.
