Minuet in the Dark

flyingfish

The candle breathed a final sigh,
We let the dark come a drifting by.
Held you close, so soft, so near,
To find where your dreams appear.
As we slipped into the moonlit pond.
Awaiting the wade of waters to respond.

We dove beneath the fluid blue hue,
Sharing our blurry eye-to-eye view.
We exhaled our breath with whispered cries
Into the hushed air beneath soft velvet skies.
Together we sang a soft harmonious tune,
A minuet of love to the beaming moon.

Your fingers traced along my wet skin,
Like the wind it curled its peace within.
Water wrapped us up in gentle charm,
Each ripple a vow, a gentle touch, a balm.
Bathing us together with its liquid grace,
As moonlight blessed this, our secret place,

This is our minuet in the dark,
This is  our minuet in the dark.

The stars leaned low to hum our song,
Their glimmer soft, their pulse so strong.
We floated slowly along, no need to steer,
No end to chase, no time or edge to fear.

Each kiss resounded like a skipping stone,
Rebounding in echoes where love had flown.
The mist swirled low to shimmer along,
Tuning to the rhythm of our pond song.

This is our minuet in the dark,
This is our minuet in the dark.
