DEAR DAD,

cerry

I saw your face today and my heart pained for you.

I almost forgot how you looked like…

I could barely recognize you,

I’m sorry.

All this while I’ve been holding on to the wrongs you did,

but I seem to have forgotten that you were also good to us.

You made mistakes, sure

But how can I blame you as though I don’t make any.

Forgive me.

It’s not that I haven’t forgiven you, it’s that I don’t really know how to move on.

I want to talk to you, but I don’t know what to say, for it’s been too long…

    Nobody's perfect eh
Perhaps as you are so creative you could write a letter, get all you wanted to say on it
    Then burn it
Moving on is never easy but we usually find a way
    Enjoyed reading

This poem seems not only from the poet but from many that do not reach out to fathers after being grown and on one's own. Nicely stated in verse

A touching and heartfelt write relatable to many, finding it difficult to reconnect after a long absence, better to try than regret, nicely expressed and written
