I forgot to breathe

Baker

In the darkest corners.

Behind the dusty bookshelf.

My mind it wonders.

To a distant place.

I forgot to breathe.

A nebulous dream.

Of things to come.

But not yet to be.

A quest I didn’t accept.

But one I undertake.

Now I’m a weathered traveler.

But with your blood running thru my veins.

I forgot to breathe.

And I wanted to cave.

Hang my hat, rest my feet.

Watch the crackling fire.

Tumble into dream.

I feel your presence.

Always a watchful eye.

As Im climbing the same mountains.

Weathering the same winds.

Fighting the same demons.

I must overcome this.

Your candle lights the way.

I finally exhale.

Dawn brings new light.

I press onward, a new day.

Sometimes life passes so quickly that we don't even notice breathing. A lovely poem of life passing

We get so wrapped up in life we forget we need to step back sometimes, nicely expressed and written
