Broken Promises

Sassy Lou

When I accepted you back in my life

After you had broken my fragile heart

You accosted that you would never leave me

Allocate your love with nobody else but me

Telling me all the sweet nothings I wanted to hear

Promising me the moon and the stars

To forget all my doubts and fears

We would get it right this time around

And have many happy years

I believe you when you promise me

That you would never let me cry in deep woe

My love for you is everlasting

Willing to forgive and forget anything

So many promises for so many years

Wanting nothing more than to be true

Just to turn into broken promises

Knew it was too good to be true

Again, you let me touch tears of affliction

As you sure you love willingly -

To another lovers enchanting serenade

Killing my heart with a thousand grenades

My love for you will stand the test of time

You in my heart

Hoping to forever be mine

Will it ever be our time?

Teary eyes and broken heart

Time after time again

How can you say you love me -

Broken promises is what I get from you in the end

Disappointment comes through in this poem of broken promises. Intentions may mean something but actions speak louder. One error can be overlooked but multiple tell a different story. Nicely worded this poem speaks of unkept vows. Well done

A touching and heartfelt write of the continued broken promises being delivered, feels like a very one sided relationship which is causing alot of pain and hurt, nicely expressed and written

          I completely agree with that.
