Just Enough Time

Violet_Writes

Just enough time to share some laughs.
Just enough time to make a memory last.
Just enough time for us to learn each other’s favorite colors.
Enough time to know your name starts with a C.
Enough time for it to hurt—just enough—when you left.
Just enough time for me to cry myself to sleep,
And think about everything we had.
Enough time for me to dream about something
That never existed.

Something I thought I had.
Never knew it would end like this—
Without a word, without a hint.
I’m hurt. I really am.
My stomach is twisted.
I haven’t felt this pain in a long time.
I really thought this could be it.
Enough time for me to believe a lie
You made for me.

This poem holds its cynicism well. A poem of feeling alone. Nicely written

  • Poetic Licence

A sense of hurt and loneliness at being let down, when love is involved it doesn't take long for any of the above to happen, nicely expressed and written
