Manners

Poetic Licence

Notice of absence from Poetic Licence
Now is the time.

Manners.

Say good morning to that man walking Towards you.

Make his day.

Help that elderly lady across the road.

Make her day.

Hold the door open for the woman with the Buggy.

Make her day.

Say thank you when served in a shop.

Make their day.

Give your seat up on a bus for someone.

Make their day.

Let someone with one item go in front of your trolley load.

Make their day.

Check on your neighbour you have not seen for a couple of days, do they need anything.

Make their day.

Chat to people in the queue without complaining.

Make their day.

Move to the side of the pavement when making a phone call.

Make our day.

Just being nice to people

Making all our days.

Manners and respect where did it all go.

It seems a distant memory.

Having spent my childhood in Colorado in the '80's, it was bit of a shock in the '90's to learn how unfriendly the Illinoisans were, where commonplace friendliness was met with coldness, rudeness and an odd surprise since in Colorado it seemed everyone was friendly whether or not we were perfect strangers. That was then, and now it's become shocking. Now civility no longer exists. Everyone is horrendously rude and obnoxious until you feel left alone in the midst of your fellows. Thank you for this timely, lovely and fitting call to kindness and civility. Beautifully rendered with an excellent spirit. Thank you for sharing.

In England in the south very rude and unsociable, they say reserved but its rude. Up north polite, friendly, helpful, salt of the earth. Enjoy the rest of your day

Pay it forward my friend, you say it beautifully in verse. It costs nothing to be kind, and there is everything to be gained. Manners equates to acknowledging one another, as you so aptly state. Everything about this poem is a fave in spades!

I do all of those things Tobani but the last time I go on a bus was about 5 years ago. LOL
