Faith and Courage: Umm ʿAmmārah at Uhud

Aurora1

When Uhud’s dust rose thick and high,
And arrows pierced the burning sky,
The men who vowed to guard the Light
Faltered, fled, withdrew from fight -
Leaving Muhammad ﷺ bare and bruised,
His life a thread, by fate abused.

But Nusaybah, Umm ʿAmmārah, came,
With heart aflame and fearless name.
She dropped her water, took her sword,
Her shield a sign, her faith the Lord.
No fear could bind her warrior soul,
No pain would make her lose control.

“By Allah, I will stand and fight -
Defend the Prophet through this night.”
Wounds rained down like storm and hail,
Yet steadfast still, she would not fail.
Her courage carved from deepest trust,
Her faith a fire, fierce and just.

While some fled shadows of their doubt,
She held the line, refused to bow out.
A woman’s strength, a steadfast flame,
Protecting Muhammad’s sacred name.
In her, the courage of the purest heart,
Faith and valour, never torn apart.
