Peace or Revenge.

They Think It Is All Over.
Sad to say it is now.
Take Care.

In The Veins (Peace or Revenge).

Funnelled together on mass in fear of the men with the guns pointing down, hands desperately flaying to grab something that might keep them alive without being trodden to the ground.

Young hands gratefully receive what we take for granted and then battle their way back through the starving crowd. Accompanied by the orchestra of gunfire, explosions, crying and wailing they rush across the bloodstained ground.

Assembled in groups on the graves of their family and friends, they collectively cook their rice and bread. This keeps the door of starvation slightly closed for a while as they eat among the dead.

As you see these young faces covered in dirt, blood and riddled with despair and pain, you have to wonder what thoughts and feelings they will harbour if they make it to become a young man.

Will they remember the brutal cost of war and the sacrifices they had all made although undoubtedly, they will still feel the hurt and pain. In a rebuilt knew land, will they have a loving heart and the wish for peace running through their veins.

Or will they grow forever harbouring grudges and hatred, with a heart filled with wounds that won't heal the pain. Where peace is never to be considered an option, in the name of their God the only thought running through their veins is revenge.

Revenge gasoline for the fire of hatred. A heart felt write that pulls at the heart watching people sliding down the cliff of ideological feuds where bushes of reprisal are grasped at out of desperation. A curse of mankind whose memory for bad outlasts his memory for kindness and good. Well written

How the bile simmers when seething with hate, boiling over in to the horrors of revenge. A very powerful poem, Tobani. Very well done.

        Fond regards,

        Tony.

💯 Tobani…this holds nothing back. You’ve given us the sights, sounds, and cost of war in a way that lingers long after the read. That final question...peace or revenge...lands heavy because you’ve shown exactly what feeds both. Powerful work, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛ Have a fabulous day!

This keeps the door of starvation slightly closed for a while as they eat among the dead.- devastating lines. I shall not forget them in a hurry.
Please do forgive me- this seems to be one of the finest. Thanks for sharing 🙏

Revenge was the only logical course of action left. Unless the enemies deluded the children, they'd return to punish them, which why history seems to run as it does, seems to me. It's a curious mindset these days which recoils and bewails every single death while demanding the right to kill whomever at will.
Excellently rendered with superb imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing.

Revenge is a strong reason for killing the enemy.
Alas, the politicians who usually start wars usually end them too when the times get too tough for them.
