Between Museum Piece and Curiosity

Gershon Wolf

a place preserved in memory

    as if in mystic fantasy

where revolutionaries drained swamps

no time for speeches or pomp

a place where survival was the goal

    requiring discipline, stamina, self-control

where it was 'from each according to his ability

to each according to his need'

a place somewhere between museum piece

    and curiosity ~

an Israeli kibbutz in 1940

A different type of life set in this poem that changes one's outlook on life. Lovely

Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated. My time at Sde Eliyah was, indeed, life-changing. Paradise, it wasn't. But the place and the people instilled precious and priceless values deep within me. Thank you again. ~ Gershon
