What to paint

Maplespal

How do I paint a picture for you of me?
You won't understand the colors my minds sees.
The layered lines would confuse your view,
the shadows shading the inner me from you.
Illustrated and restricted on a canvasses side,
soaked through to reveal those parts I hide.
Would you be able to understand what you see,
if I was to paint a picture for you of me?

What rhythms and flows for your worded view?
What pictures written do I write for you?
No painting with a brush but with a pen.
Like a painting would you review it again?
Would you sit with a quiet drink,
and allow the writing to help you think?
or do you need a painted picture to view,
instead of what your mind paints for you?

What to paint?
I can't decide.

A most thoughtful poem that poses the question of would another's painting of themself help one understand better than the picture one paints in their own mind. Very nicely done
