The Shallows

Lorna

Oh the fancy dresses

The jewels

The trowel thick makeup

That covers false hearts

And shallow faces

They glitter and twirl beneath chandeliers

So unaware are they

Of the dark to come

Where those who feast on shadows

Await their inevitable decay

A fave for the deeper meaning in this poem of maskerade where a world party requires a mask. The glitter and colored paint hides the reality behind and only in dark may one remove their mask. Nicely portrayed

Just like how a person can’t be awake all the time I feel like it’s the same with wearing a mask all the time… there are still moments of authenticity

Nice. Ignorance is bliss they say until that one day.

This is a wonderful write, we all wear different masks, some for fun, some to hide the reality that lays beneath, reminds of where are the clowns, they are hiding amongst you, enjoyed the read
