~~~Rebuilt by My Will~~~
I have watered my plants,
Yet when I thirsted for comfort,
The skies remained still.
I have fed my animals,
With hands both tired and kind,
Yet they never once fed me.
I have helped the needy,
With my last, without regret.
Yet when I grew weary,
No one came to help.
I have carried burdens
That were never mine to bear.
I stood firm in silent battles,
Yet none stood near to care.
In the coldest night, I gave warmth,
Lit candles in the dark—
But I was wrapped in shadows,
And none brought me light.
Still, I kept on going,
Not for praise or to be seen,
But because love is not a ledger,
And kindness is no debt to owe.
Though the world stays silent,
And my humble back bears every load,
I will keep walking as a giver.
With every step I take, I’ll give.
I’ll plant light along the road,
Feed the hungry animals,
Water the dying plants—
And be the Funmilayo I was born to be.
Not just a giver but a very strong determined person, always enjoy your writes, they have so much depth to them, nicely expressed and written
Thank you so much for enjoying my poem.
A lovely write and even lovelier message of charity and the art of giving in the true sense where nothing is expected in return. Commendable and a lovely write a fave
