I do not have a heart of stone
but my heart deeply attached to a stone
Roaming the rugged terrains for decades
has created a strong bond with dear stone
My professional life is spent trying to
identify you and study you in depth
To unravel the history and tectonics
which have shaped the mother earth
for millions of years, its top layer crust
I regret that I have hit you with hammer
To probe you and understand you in depth
Your attributes I had put down in paper
Marked your identity and character
In a Geological map to be seen forever
In the remote area and God forsaken place
I used to get engaged with you in a grace
Hours spent with you had tinge of romance
No other person must have bothered to trace
You, and glossed over to your utter disgrace
Yes, I am a Geologist who loves you, my dear stone

Noble and respectful this poem gives a sense of reverence to the earth and its rocks. It is a most poetic gesture of awe and love. Very nicely written
So interesting this poem....... makes me remember that when I used to crack open rocks as a child I would think that no one had seen this particular inside of this rock EVER! Put me in awe.
