You'll be missed Pops!

_m_ostwanted

You left me here and I watch you die

Guess death never cared about how much I feel

I tell myself it's alright

But here I am, thinking about you

Your absence I don't deserve

But what would I say I want

Quite sudden and it all caught me by surprise

I was just there, laying next to you

A thousand fights I said we could have

I never said you could die on me

Maybe you being alive is all I want

Maybe I'm too messed up to even think straight

Now, your memories are all I have left

I keep staring at your pictures too

Don't know if I'll ever feel better

You did a great job leaving a scar behind

I loved you and you know about that

I wish I could hold you tight for a moment still

I'm thinking how to live without you

You taught me all I know

But now you're gone forever

And I wonder if I will ever escape this

All my smiles are pretty dry

And my laughter is quite dead

I'm just worked up mentally

Wondering how could you leave us all behind

Maybe it's all for the better

And sure makes the angels wear a pretty smile

Cause now they have you though I lost you

I'll tell the kids about you

A story about a mighty man I once knew

Go ahead and spread those wings

I knew you had them while you were here

If there ever would be a story

I mean a new space where we could live again

Pretty sure I'd still choose you cause no one can ever play your role

I'll live by what you taught me

And beside me, there will always be a seat for you

I will always save one for you

You will forever be in our hearts

You'll be missed Pops, You'll be missed!

  • Comment from author about the poem: It\\\'s been a while I post any poem here. This piece was what my hand wrote while I was going through the trauma of losing my dad some months ago. Lost my relationship few days to that, then lost the job I was working too. God is the greatest in all. 💝
