Owning the Quiet

Samuel

it’s just quiet in here.

no storm. no noise.

just me.

used to drive me crazy —

the boredom,

the emptiness.

felt like proof

that something was missing.

but now i let it sit with me.

the silence,

the stillness,

the nothing.

it’s not an enemy anymore.

it’s mine.

and for the first time,

i’m okay with that.

I needed to hear this… as I was going to turn on the tv this morning but instead I’m enjoying the crickets and meows

Loved this poem and silence is not only okay but a friend and place of solace. Very nicely written
