Stubborn as the Earth Beneath Us

gray0328

your paws dig into concrete defiance

leash pulled taut like an argument unending

you meet my pleas with solid silence

your eyes say no in booming stillness

each step negotiated like a treaty

each sit an act of rebellion's triumph

you are a lesson in holding ground

a masterclass in unwavering resolve

bulldog with a heart so fierce

your will bends for none, not even love

and yet, within your quiet resistance

your loyalty holds like the weight of stone

how remarkable is the soft beneath toughness

how you teach me to stand firm, unyielding

and still, remind me to carry tenderness

even in moments of unrelenting truth

This poem made me think of my old English bull and left me missing him. Well done Gray
