Please Stay (A little longer)

Meera Mere

Why is it so hard to say,
please stay.
Just a little longer.
I need you—
need you to hold me.

But why is it always so easy
to whisper instead,
I’m okay.
That it happens sometimes.
That I can deal on my own.

I’ll be fine,
I promise—
by the time
the sun shines
next time.

But also,
I wished I had said it—
I needed you.
Just a little longer.
Please stay.

A beautiful poem of communication and desired perception to be strong, not wanting to be seen as dependent resulting in regret. Nicely done
