as the leaves shift colors
and glide to the ground,
floating slowly, gracefully,
churning in the turbulent breeze.
chills fill the air, replacing the
cacophonous insects that come out at night
with a bittersweet silence.
a stillness creeps in,
biting away at my mind,
replaying the blissful moments
of days gone by.
a radiant longing emanates
from deep inside,
clinging to delicate rays of sunshine.
but the linearity of time
stops for no one.
there are no bargains
to be made.
the only option is
to keep moving forward,
letting the glow of summer fade.
