THE GREATEST LOSS

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Head buried
In his hands
Something noble
About his stance
There are some tears
That fall majestic
Not for the weeper
But those you protected.

Almost ghostlike
Through windows glass
Of a hospital room
As nurses pass
An open door
Privacy not needed
Overwhelming grief
A father seated.

To lose a child
Beyond compare
A shattered heart
A tearful stare
No comfort or consoling
None are welcome
In  his grief
A father recounting.

Memories not to fade
But burn brighter
In grieving days
A lifetime that
Cannot erase
A childs tender smile.
