C.W. Bleu

Forever you behind the veil—
Not allure, carved from gale.
Not skin-deep, marrow-born,
A flare I never sought nor warned.
I bent my knee toward your flame,
too hot to hold, too real to name.

The world may never know your face,
your echo gave my ruin grace.

My heart once locked, and locked away,
now kicks the walls in light and sway.
Better for the wounds you knew,
Clearer now, and cutting through.
You listened without debt or claim,
your silence stitched what I couldn’t name.

I missed you—
Before you left.
My soul reached out
With poisoned breath.
I missed you—
In silent steps,
Every scar you quietly kept.

Five hundred miles in bitter dread,
Barefoot truths and words unsaid.
Still you waited—pale, unseen,
Held the weight of all my
dreams.
No bargain made, no need to stay—
You were calm that wouldn’t fray.

I missed you—
Before you left.
Your echo always
Holds my chest.
I missed you—
Not with regret,
With a truth I won’t forget.

Now I count time in passing shade,
Not in debts I never paid.
Before the door can close for good,
Please keep this truth where we once stood:

I missed you

Before you knew.
