Hanging up humility on
Yesterday’s conversion
Pretentiously upon false pretense,
Occupying God’s throne—
Crown upon cocky creature
Riding atop a horse named Grace.
Irony escapes such situations,
Stealing away from the fall to come.
Yes—quite the wake up call.

Nice one! With Grace as a horse, how would we handle her and for how long? Very interesting to follow the thinking trail here. 🕊️🙏
Thank you, my friend…that image of Grace as a horse carries weight, doesn’t it? Hard to say how long she can be ridden before she bucks the rider off. 🤣 👑🐎⚡🕯️
Does indeed! One saddle-worthy ride!!!
Popeye's not usurped anything. He's had it from the start. Had what? Don't answer that of course! lol.
Oh, indeed he as! Though, he rides on his arms, no need for a horse named anything! It's a bit hard shifting his throttle thought, ya know. Too much spinach leads to thought-deficit, methinks. Ah-guh-guh-guh-guh-guh!
He having even more spinach with that glugging? He'll be......... don't answer that! lol.
Hanging humility on the loose nail of pretense often results in one's pants falling down. A fun read Tristan with more metaphor than I was in for. Well penned my friend
Haha Soren, that image of pants falling down is priceless…Indeed. I’m glad the metaphors kept you on your toes, my friend. I try my best! 👑🐎⚡🕯️
Your last lines nailed it! Brilliant 🌹
Thank you my friend! So glad that they delivered! 👑🐎⚡🕯️
I love the clever wordplay and ironic tone very impactful. Sharp imagery ‘riding atop a horse named Grace’ is brilliant!”
Thank you so much, my dear friend! Glad the horse and the poem delivered! 👑🐎⚡🕯️
The poem reflects on the dangers of false humility and the hypocrisy that can arise in the guise of spiritual or moral superiority. It critiques individuals who occupy positions of authority or influence while lacking genuine virtue, ultimately suggesting that such pretentiousness will lead to a downfall
Exactly, my friend…you caught the critique. Authority without virtue is just pretense on a throne, and eventually it crumbles. Grateful you drew that out and very thankful for your time, analysis, and friendship. 👑🐎⚡🕯️
You're most welcome, my friend.
A good arrogant character, well-written
Yes, indeed! Hypocrites are, aren't they though? 🤣 Thank you, my friend! Glad it delivered and am always thankful for your take and support! 👑🐎⚡🕯️
