To be quiet is to be wise
To be watchful is quite an art
To look beyond the norm is a fact
To be of free will means you've seen the archives
To read is to be aware
To be alert requires skill
To observe the course of time, is to be prepared at all times
Knowledge leads one to be beware
To document leaves no room for lack of knowledge
To remember is to not repeat
To repeat is human error
History notes human error
To know history one must observe
To know history one must document
To know history is to be armed
To know history is to be prepared
History is past, present and future
History is truth,
Someone's truth.

Such a thoughtful write full of great lines. History is written by the victors from their point of view. The last line cements this. A beautifully penned piece and a fave
That History is quite possibly the most contestable of the social Sciences should not in any way discourage its serious study. It has answers to ‘why?’; although as many of these interpretations are different it can take time to sus the underlying ideologies and points of view.
Thanks for raising this topic with some interesting verse. So important.
