Coming Back To Poetry

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

Coming back to poetry

is like bumping into that old friend

who always made you smile,

all hugs and laughter,

and making time to stop for a drink,

is like a loved-one phoning to say

the letter from the hospital

says all-clear, see you in six-months,

we can start making plans once again,

is like returning to the North Wales

sea-side town where you holidayed as a child

walking across the sand dunes,

I remember when all this was similes.

Great metaphor and the killer was the word play at the end. Well said.

Tom, beautifully written…poetry’s return as friend, relief, and childhood memory. It reads like joy stitched with nostalgia, a welcome home. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛ Love it, my friend! Cheers!

Please have a hearty laugh, as the poem brought to mind mind Penny Lane. Didn't find why- perhaps both involved images with details sprinkled in an offhand way which made them feel so real. Needless to say- Loved it!

Thanks so much. And love the Penny lane comparison. Happy Friday!
