Why Are You Sorry

Violet_Writes

Why are you sorry for something so out of control?
Why are you sorry for someone who has hurt you?
Why are you sorry for them?
Be sorry for yourself instead.

“No,” I say to the inner thoughts.
I won’t be sorry for myself.

They yell, “Why not?”
Because if I am, I won’t ever get up.
I’ll be tied down and hopeless.

So I won’t be sorry for myself.
I’ll be sorry for people— For their problems, their hurt, their pain

“Why are you sorry?”
“Why are you sorry?”
“Why are you sorry?”

I’m sorry because I can’t be sorry for myself.

It's a bit of a mind bender or maybe that's just me!
Self examination brought me a big sorry.
