Better off gone

Jodie

Awkwardly standing still,
grieving myself silence,

Like a curse come alive,
I’m trapped in my mind.

Searching for shelter,
but rain drowns this town.

How does it feel
when tears freeze as they fall?

The blood in my veins
runs twenty below.

Maybe I’m better off gone—
but would you miss me then?

Will someone tell me I’m enough?
What will it take to believe?

Faith slips through my fingers,
lost beneath the surface.
