Charlie Kirk was shot
A school shooting in Denver
Constant wars all around of course
And memories of 9/11 still lie strong.
What leads someone
To pick up a gun
And decide to shoot someone
They don't agree with?
Violence is not the answer.
It only leads to more hate.
They laughed at me
When I said I believed
Everyone wanted to be a good person.
Was that daft of me?
That I could not conceive
The idea of a kindergartener ever wanting to do bad.
Where does the evil come from then?
Glamorized violence on the television?
In movies we love so much?
The freakishly inhumane that we call entertainment?
We remember
We remember the events
Of all the violence we can
To try and stop history
From doing its cycle.
But unless we do something
Violence and death will happen
All because someone had a different opinion than another.

A hot topic when a girl has her throat cut on a train and no one reacts, a man is shot for speaking his mind, a day celebrated when thousands lost their lives from a terrorist attack. School shootings over bullying. When mental health is not available for those that need it and the embers of hate are fanned by media. No one knows what to believe so they believe nothing and do nothing. A good write NinjaGirl
We\'re all too used to violence, and it\'s not okay. Thank you for reading
You are most welcome
Perhaps the gun should not have been available for someone to pick up?
Big irony there actually, as reports have it that the shot target extolled the virtues of the second amendment, suggesting that a few may have to die in order to ensure its continued enshrinement:
"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."
Probably not. I'm aware of the quote as well. I'm in no way defending that statement, and I don't agree with some of the things Charlie Kirk stood for. But he was killed, and his two children do not deserve to grow up without a father. So I do have empathy because a human was killed for saying their beliefs. People should not be shot for their beliefs. That's why most of us live in the United States anyway: freedom for believing what you want to believe.
Not worth living there when you could get shot for your beliefs. And many get shot (with much less fanfare) before they have had the chance to have any mature opinions at all; note mass school shootings which quickly disappear from the news.....
Many kids grow up without a father, and in some cases this may prevent them from indoctrination with unhealthy views on life...
Gun violence is inexcusable , be it Political (the only type in view at the moment) or any other, especially schools.
I wish you good health - keep your head down and don't get shot......
It's true that guns are a major downside, but the U.S. did used to be one of the most accepting countries toward refugees or people wanting to change their lives. You're right, mass shootings do disappear quickly--I fear we all have been too desensitized to it because it happens so much. I grieve for all the kids who do grow up without a father, and indoctrination or not, Charlie Kirk was a good man to his kids. I really do appreciate the sentiment to not get shot, and I will not for stupid reasons, I can guarantee that, but I can't guarantee keeping my head down and conforming in a society where these injustices do happen. I have to try and do something about it.
Go for it in whatever way you feel might help, I'd say.
Thanks for responding as you have. Your argument has the tone I can understand and relish.
Yes indeed, 🥷…I’ve asked those same questions, how humanity can glamorize violence yet grieve its fruits. You’ve put the struggle into powerful words. Powerful, raw and honest reflection, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you very much for reading!
Intriguing. Very spoken word feeling about it. I enjoy the line "Constant wars all around of course"
Thank you
I used to believe people were basically good then watch four people not only not lift a finger to help an innocent girl bleeding out but turn to face away not wanting to see or be inconvenienced.
Not to be preaching but reminds me reprobate mind and no natural affection spoken of. Nice write.
Yes, but I wonder if the people did not know what to do. I know that absolutely does not justify it, but its possible they were in shock. It\'s difficult to see something like that. On the other hand, would you or I have done anything? We would like to think so, but in the moment...we just don\'t know. Thank you so much for reading
