One Breath

Violet_Writes

A simple word, expressed in many forms—
It could be a smile or a wave,
The time spent or the tears shed,
The pain and sorrow, or the joy and glee.

A simple word to utter,
Yet so many are afraid to even think about it.
Why do our hearts feel so heavy
When they have the power to lift so high?
Why do we drown on solid ground
When the storm has already passed by.

That heart-wrenching feeling
When they walk away...
How difficult it is to say
A simple word in a simple way.

Hold hands—never let go.
Embrace each other through the night.
Kiss good morning and farewell.
So many ways we express “I love you,”
But it rarely escapes our lips,
Our hearts are too fearful to allow it.
When it only takes one breath.
