Monkey See, Monkey Do

NinjaGirl

Entertainment, we claim it

Such a good show I'd say

But the aliens were killed

For only wanting a home

Movies, for the prudies

Romance is so boring

Historical fiction is worse

I like the fighting scenes

Violence for the child

'Cause people see a gun

And think it's the solution

To opposing opinions.

Yes, many a time I thought, I'd love to shoot that clown.
Then I realised, the clown is actually the most sensible person out there.
Still, in these conflicting times, we have to shoot someone, cos obscene language can get you jailed in Britain.

    • NinjaGirl

I must say, I hope you don't shoot too prematurely! How far does that law go? If you post an "obscene" poem could you get jailed? (Random, but now I'm super curious).

      • Paul Bell

As long as it isn't murdering obscene. lol

        • NinjaGirl

          Ok! Haha!

A great poem with meaning. Violent video games, movies, TV shows, violence in music desensitized most can handle it but a few have little restraints and no access to mental health, even if they did they would not go. Those that do go few listen or change. A sad world it is. Good write very well done

It's very difficult. Because I too will enjoy a violent movie for entertainment. But we don't think about how it will affect us. Killing and hurting people is okay if they're bad, that's what that's telling us. And, is that a message we want to send to our children? Questions we can't answer or change.

Most people can separate reality from fantasy but some don't.

Dearest 🥷, this lands with weight ...he aliens on screen, the kids with guns, the way entertainment numbs us to violence. And that ending alliteration seals it: we’ve mistaken bullets for answers to disagreement. Honest, sharp, and true...tragic. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛ Powerful and needed poem.

              • NinjaGirl

Thank you. I know there's not much I can do about it, but if people are more aware, they may choose different games to buy for their kids, different movies to watch, and it could lead to less violence.

Justified as escapism, but from what is being escaped? Rationality too hard to cope with?
A big issue which needs regular airing. Thanks.

                • NinjaGirl

Totally true, but is there anything we can do about it? Over here, I may be preaching to the choir! Thank you for reading.

Between the 12th and the 14th I pinched my comment and converted into a short pin. I hope you don't mind, as I did it before you had a chance to respond...

If it's your own comment, I have no problem with it at all.

Thanks for reading--it's the sad stuff that we need to hear so we can fix it in our world.

violence in movies and on social media is so common place that today's generation sadly feels it is the only solution..
                          great write

                          • NinjaGirl

It feels like the only solution, but it isn\'t. This is what ALL the generations need to be taught. Thank you for reading and commenting!

                            • NafisaSB

yes - it is not at all the correct solution, and I agree that this has to be taught to young and old...
                              food for thought for sure

                              • NinjaGirl

                                Agreed!
